Skins US Make Maxxie a Lesbian

We knew they were going to eff this show up royally!

The American basterdization reimagining of UK smash series Skins hasn't even finished filming, and yet there's already some pretty HOrrific news regarding some changes made to the characters!

Almost all of the main characters from the first season of series have been kept the same, with a few name changes (Sid is now Stanley, Anwar is now Abbud, Jal is now Korean and named Cho, and Cassie is Cadie).

Early casting sides also described the Maxxie character as an openly gay Latino boy, Teo.

However, we've gotten wind that somewhere down the line, Teo was changed into a LESBIAN cheerleader named Tea!

WTF?

And worse yet, according to a recent version of the pilot episode - which they're directly ripping off from the first one in the UK series - they haven't even bothered to redefine Maxxie's relationship with Chris and Anwar now that it's a lady.

Here's an excerpt:

INT. SPORTS HALL. MORNING

Cheerleaders are rehearsing a stupid, but intangibly arresting routine in an otherwise empty hall. Track down the line of loveliness. Somewhere a phone is ringing.

CHEERLEADERS: (CHANTING) Roundview… We love you!!! Aha! Ahu! Love you, Roundview!! Say what?!! Say Huh!!! Say what! Say huh!! Say who! Roundview…!

The camera comes to rest on TEA (17), an unusual looking but nevertheless beautiful girl.
The CHEERLEADERS spin out into immaculately coreographed individual spins and group turns. TEA presses a BLUETOOTH RECEIVER. Cheerleader continues around her.

TEA: Hey Tony…
TONY: [PHONE] Forget the big gay night out Tea. We need you.
TEA: Sorry Tony, I promised Chris and Abs I’d take them on a voyage of wonder and discovery…

Absolutely obnoxious.

Once again, we feel as though this is another case of the US unable to handle an honest depiction of a male gay teen character!

Lame!

What do U think?? Should Maxxie have been changed to a girl??

OH Hell NO!!! they totally Screwed this up now

MTV Orders 10 Episodes of Skins: USA

MTV has reportedly picked up an American version of Skins.

According to Deadline, the network has ordered ten episodes of the teen series.

MTV's senior vice-president of series development Liz Gateley allegedly pursued the rights to the format for nearly two years before ordering a pilot in August.

The co-creator of the UK version Bryan Elsley wrote the pilot and is executive producing the project. The show will largely be penned by teenagers, like the British version.

MTV is thought to be planning a January launch for the show.

Skins finished its fourth run in the UK earlier this year and has been renewed for two more series. A movie version is also in the works.

Ok so i kno most of this isnt news but we didnt really know how many episodes they had planned and when they were planning on airing it on tv so i thought i would post it on here

Skins Voted Unrealistic Student TV show

E4's Skins has been voted the most unrealistic student TV show in a recent poll.

According to MyVoucherCodes, 67% of those who voted chose the teen drama ahead of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and the New York-based Gossip Girl, which claimed second and third respectively.

Mark Pearson, managing director of the website, said: "The fact that Skins was considered the most unrealistic was no surprise as sixth formers don't take that many drugs and have that much sex, or at least you would hope.

"I can definitely agree that American TV shows and films that feature students are unrealistic because they are usually played by people in their 30s!"

90210, Coming Of Age and Superbad also featured in the list.

Meanwhile, The Inbetweeners was crowned the most plausible portrayal of student life, reminding voters of "their time with friends at school".

Skins Movie News

Despite the US attempting to bastardize adapt the original, the BRILLIANT UK teen drama Skins is getting a full-length feature film, set for a summer 2011 release!

Steve Christian, one of the film's producers, said in a statement:

"The biggest critics of Skins are the Skins fans so it's going to be a big challenge. The programme has this incredible fanbase despite all the characters changing. Skins has grown in popularity with more than 1.5 million people tuning in to the start of the recent fourth series. Although its target audience is teenagers, it has become something of a guilty pleasure for curious viewers far older. Look, I'm a middled aged bloke with two kids, I should hate Skins but I absolutely love it. And then I talk to my mates, people not in the film industry, and it's the same thing - they watch it and they love it and it's all down to the quality of the production. Turning TV shows into films doesn't happen so much these days, probably because there's not the material out there. But what we don't want to do is to make a 90 minute episode of Skins. It would be a complete disaster."

The controversial series follows a different group of British teenagers every two seasons as they attempt to come into their own, juggle relationships, and experiment with drugs and sexuality! We personally think it's one of the most brutally honest and poignant depictions of adolescence that we've ever seen!

Christian confirms that staff writer Jack Thorne will be handling the screenplay, and Charles Martin will direct. We're also THRILLED to hear that some of the original characters will be back, on top of the just-wrapped second generation kids and brand new faces!

YES! YES! We love them all, but we hope they bring back Maxxie and our beloved Cassie! That girl brings the hot mess like NO OTHER! Well, except maybe Effy!

We hope that this, as well as the UK's fifth season, will rectify any damage that the most likely shiteous American version will do!

What do U think?? Who do U want to see return for the Skins movie??
Us fans will be pleased to find out that Luke Pasqualino has been added to the cast of the new movie The Apparition. The movie is staring Ashley Greene(Twiliight's Alice) and Tom Felton(Harry Potter Series' Draco) as a couple who are haunted by a supernatural presence that is unleashed during a college experiment. Luke is in line to play Greg. It is also said that Luke is single, the bad news is he is concentrating on his career, although he doesn't mind the female attention. When asked he said:

Quote

"It's good to know that you can be noticed for your looks, but it comes with the job and you have to take it on the chin and appreciate what you've got, really. I'm grateful for all the attention."

Look out for Luke in The Apparition due out sometime in 2011.

Skins Crosses the Atlantic

Skins Crosses the Atlantic

Quote

Characters that sport British accents and drive on the left side of the road aren’t the only things that make the British BBC show Skins distinctly un-American. The show follows the life of a group of teenagers in Bristol, England. Like many real teenagers on both sides of the pond, they do a lot of drugs, have a lot of sex, and don’t get along with their parents. However, Skins shows more of this than most American Prime-Time TV channels would allow: plenty of nudity, drug use, sex, and—god forbid—an abortion.

Nevertheless, MTV announced this summer that they would develop an American version of the show, set in Baltimore. Staying true their British counterparts, who casted teenagers who had never acted professionally before, the producers held an open casting call in November in Manhattan. An announcement from the casting company encouraged “brave, charismatic, genuinely edgy teens” to audition, including those with no acting experience.

At the auditions, prospective actors, ages 15 to 18 (IDs were necessary) were taken in groups of four. They were given prompts with scenes, ranging from having a conversation while getting high to sex tape scandal. The aspiring actors were assigned characters, and they had to act out the scenes for a given amount of time. Then, a lucky few got call-backs.

BHSEC sophomore Hayley Barnett was the 79th person to audition out of what she said was easily five hundred lined up on the Bowery at only nine in the morning. “We were given a scene where one guy and his girlfriend made a sex tape, and he posted it on YouTube without her knowing,” Barnett said, adding that the scene went well. “It was actually interesting to improv a scene that was really different from those one experiences in theatre classes.”

Skins was developed by father and son team Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain. All of the writers are in their twenties or younger, which gives the show a more realistic perspective. MTV will try to stay true to this model by using young, untested screen writers, and will work with the British team as well.

Barnett said that all types of people were at the auditions, and clearly not all were experienced actors. “The reason I went wasn't to get 'discovered' or anything like that,” she said. “I really just wanted to go to have some fun, and it certainly delivered.”

Quote

The actress said she was disappointed she did not get to join in the action between characters Naomi Campbell (Lily Loveless) and Emily Fitch (Kathryn Prescott). Kaya, 17 - who plays Effy Stonem - told TV Biz: "Unfortunately I wasn't in the lesbian storyline but I would have loved to have been."Acting out lesbian scenes would have been really fun. I have so much respect for Kat and Lily that they can make it work because neither of them are lesbians but it looks so beautiful and real."She added: "It's a really important storyline and people have come out because of it."
Also co-star Kat Prescott has revealed that she never again wants to work with her twin sister Megan, who plays Katie in the show. The 18-year-old said: "It is trying working with Megan because it's very full on.She added: "We're not very close twins - we went to separate schools and never wanted to do the twin thing in our careers, but Skins was too good an opportunity to miss."Now we will definitely go our separate ways again."

SKINS Movie on the Way

According to the latest Film Weekly podcast over at the guardian website, a SKINS Film has been planned.

Jack Thorne has himself claimed that the movie has been planned and that he is writing it.

The podcast can be listened to and downloaded from: here - the movie is mentioned around 9 minutes in...but I recommend listening to the whole thing so nothing is out of context.

Additionally, it is noted that the 2nd generation of the cast will be written into the script, with members from the 1st and 3rd generation making appearences. Who would you like to be in the movie if this does happen and what do you want from it ?

Skins' fans continue to blast shock death

Quote

Skins fans are largely unhappy with the decision to kill off Freddie McLair, according to a poll.

The majority of voters suggested that it was a bad move to have Luke Pasqualino's alter ego depart in such a violent manner.

One user, gezza, said: "He was hot but that was the most disturbing death scene i've ever seen ewwwwwwwwwwww i need therapy !!!!"

Another wrote: "Those last three minutes or so moved Skins into a really weird and unnecessary place. The episode was one the best ever, except for those last three minutes, I thought the Skins writers let themselves down."

However, Skins fan Ian claimed it was "the best piece of television i've seen this year", adding: "It was a more original way of killing off a character than just getting to the end of a series and never seeing them again."

The series four finale of Skins airs tonight at 10pm on E4.

How do you Guys feel about Last weeks Episode?

Quote

The executive producer of Skins has promised fans that the upcoming fifth series will be more fun.
Series four has received criticism from viewers following Freddie's (Luke Pasqualino) murder during last week's episode, which some deemed an necessary plot twist.
Responding to the comments, Skins boss John Griffin agreed that the current series should have been less depressing, but defended the decision to kill off Freddie.
